DBT Trade Mission to MEDICA 2023 - Express your interest now!

The Department for Business and Trade is inviting UK headquartered businesses in the Healthcare & Life Science sector to express their interest in a trade mission to MEDICA 2023. This is taking place between Monday 13th November to Thursday 16th November 2023 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The programme offers exclusive activities and events to connect businesses with decision makers in the Healthcare and Life Science sector. Find more information about the Trade Mission here.

If you are attending Medica 2023 as an exhibitor, make sure to apply for an ATA CARNET.

An ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits duty-free and tax-free temporary import of goods for up to one year. It contains pre-prepared unified customs declaration forms to be used at each customs border offices and serves as a guarantee to customs duties and taxes.

ATA Carnets can be used in 80+ destinations around the world and its main purpose is to simplify the customs procedures for temporary exports and re-importation of goods, such as Commercial Samples, Professional Equipment, Exhibition and Trade Show goods, Theatrical, artistic, and entertainment equipment, Sports equipment and Scientific and educational materials.

An ATA Carnet allows these goods to move across international borders without the need to pay customs duties and taxes, as long as they are re-exported within the specified time frame (usually up to one year). This document eliminates the need for posting a customs bond and simplifies the customs clearance process at each destination.

It's important to note that not all countries participate in the ATA Carnet system, so it is crucial to check whether the destination country accepts ATA Carnets before planning the temporary exportation of goods. Additionally, the goods covered by an ATA Carnet must be intended for temporary use and must be re-exported back to the country of origin within the given time frame to avoid potential penalties and taxes.
